Privacy Policy (QR & Barcode Scanner)
Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the app QR & Barcode Scanner: Generate ("we", "our", "us") handles information. In short: the app itself collects no personal data. Your codes, history and settings stay on your device. Advertising and purchases are handled by Google services described below.
1. Information the app itself collects
None. Scanning, generating, saving history and favorites, and settings all work entirely on your device using local storage. We have no servers, no accounts, no sign-up, no analytics SDK, and we never upload your QR contents, contacts, photos or settings anywhere.
Data stored only on your device includes:
- Scan/generation history and favorites (local database)
- App settings and preferences (theme, scanner options, search engine)
- Your saved "My QR" contact details, if you enter them
- A flag recording whether you purchased Remove Ads
Uninstalling the app deletes all of the above.
2. Android permissions and why they are used
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Camera | Scanning QR codes and barcodes with the viewfinder. |
| Flashlight | Torch control while scanning in the dark. |
| Vibrate | Optional haptic feedback when a code is found. |
| Storage (photos/media, legacy devices only) | Saving generated codes to your gallery and picking images to scan. |
| Wi-Fi state (view/change) | Connecting to a Wi-Fi network from a scanned Wi-Fi QR code (Android suggests the network; you confirm). |
| Internet / network state | Loading ads and opening links you explicitly tap. |
Camera frames are processed on-device for detection and are never recorded, stored or transmitted by us. Contacts, calendar and SMS actions open your own system apps — we never read that data.
3. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version of the app shows banner and interstitial ads provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect:
- Device identifiers such as the Google advertising ID
- Approximate location (derived from IP address)
- App interaction and diagnostic data (e.g. ad impressions, performance)
This data is collected and processed by Google under the Google Privacy Policy and Google's Partner Sites policy. Paying once for Remove Ads disables all ads permanently; no advertising data is then requested by the app.
4. Consent (GDPR / EEA users)
Where required (e.g. the EU/EEA/UK), the app asks for advertising consent through Google's certified consent form before any personalized ads load. You can change your choice at any time in the app: Settings → Ad Privacy Settings.
5. Purchases (Google Play Billing)
Remove Ads is a one-time in-app purchase processed entirely by Google Play. We never see or store your payment details. Google shares only the purchase confirmation with the app so ads can be disabled, including after reinstall. See the Google Privacy Policy and Google Play Terms.
6. Your rights
- Access / deletion: since we hold no personal data about you on any server, there is nothing to request — everything lives on your device and is deleted with uninstall.
- Withdraw ad consent: use Settings → Ad Privacy Settings, reset your advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads, or buy Remove Ads.
- EU/UK (GDPR): you have the rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port and object. Because we store nothing about you, these are satisfied by design; for advertising data held by Google, contact Google directly.
- California (CCPA/CPRA): we do not sell or share personal information as defined by California law.
7. Children
The app is rated for Everyone and is not directed at children under 13. We knowingly collect no data from anyone, including children. If you believe a child has provided information through an integrated Google service, please contact Google and us using the address below.
8. Security and retention
Because all app data stays on your device, retention equals the life of your install. We protect data by simply never transmitting it. Advertising and purchase data retained by Google is governed by Google's policies linked above.
9. Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page and update the effective date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the revised policy.
